Opening times

We can now welcome those from 2 households or groups of up to 6 people from mixed households (including children), to enjoy some alfresco eating and drinking. We do have outside areas that can be booked online between April 12th and May 17th or alternatively, we are keeping some tables aside should you just want to pop down and enjoy a drink or a bite to eat without a booking.

Whilst we are obviously all keeping everything crossed for good weather, it’s best to come prepared for every eventuality, so wrap up warm, bring a blanket and perhaps even an umbrella, just in case. If the heavens do open, we’re really sorry but we won’t be able to allow you to shelter inside the pub.

Children and minors

Whilst primarily an adult environment, supervised children and families are most welcome at lunch times and early evenings in our upstairs dining room. We're particually popular for family Sunday lunches - reservations advised. We are unable to allow children in our downstairs main bar area.

Due to the physical limitations of the building we regretfully cannot allow prams inside at any time.

Small, well behaved dogs are welcomed in our downstairs bar area (but not in the upstairs dining room).

Parking and public transport

Easy access by car, great public transport from Kew Bridge station and for walkers, we're the perfect place for some respite after enjoying a stroll along the famous riverside path. Just 30 minutes on the train from central London.

By car:

There is plenty of free, well-lit, on-street parking on the quiet roads around the pub.

From Monday to Friday, for 2 hours between 10am and 12noon, parking restrictions apply. On the Strand-on-the-green road outside the pub, you can pay using the 'pay by phone' app during this time. Again, this is only for 2 hours a day, the rest is free. Pay by phone parking app and location number 803059.

By train:

Kew Bridge Station is a 4 minute walk with trains to London Waterloo every 30mins. Other stops include: Chiswick; Barnes; Clapham Junction; and Vauxhall.

By Bus:

There are regular services from the No. 65, the 391 and the N65. with the stop just a 4 minute walk from the pub.

Our terrace and first floor balcony

During the long summer months, the Steam Packet comes into its own. With the windows and doors flung open, our ground floor terrace and first floor balcony can be truely appreciated in all their glory on a sunny evening watching the sun dip down over the Thames.

The perfect spot to enjoy a few sundowners with friends or a spot of al fresco dining with a view to die for.

Meal Tickets

We’re having a little hiatus on redeeming meal tickets just whilst we’re trading outside – as soon as we are open inside the pub, we’ll be back to normal, redeeming them again. We hope you understand.

A Meal Ticket is received for each main course or light bite purchased at full price. Six tickets can then be exchanged for any main course up to £12 from Monday to Thursday (excluding Bank Holidays, set menus, ticketed events and click and collect). For full terms and conditions, please click here.

Expiry date extension: As it was not possible to redeem Meal Tickets throughout a lot of 2020, tickets with a November 2020 expiry date will be accepted from when we are able to open inside once again up until November 18th, 2021.
