Well, then welcome to our pub, the Nevill Crest and Gun. It's an intriguingly named pub, in a building with over 500 years of history. The 'Nevill Crest' refers quite literally to the crest of the Nevill family, the Earls of Abergavenny, on whose estate the pub was built: it is their monogram that adorns the building and many others in the surrounding area.
The 'Gun' arose from a forge on the estate which produced cannons and cannon balls for the Nevilles: at one time an ancient cannon, made of strips of metal held together with hoops, was fired on fair days or days of celebration, and it is this that is referred to in the name: after all, many of the local villagers would have been employed in the forge.
Inside the pub you will find incredibly atmospheric, beamed rooms and roaring fires along with a lighter garden room which overlooks our lawns.
(NB. Lord Abergavenny has kindly given us permission to use the family crest at the head of the page, but further reproduction would need to be by prior arrangement).
Our passion lies in finding quality fresh ingredients and preparing, cooking and presenting them in a modern but unpretentious way. Our menus have a spine of classic British dishes complemented by more exotic influences from other parts of the world. We upload them to our web site each day before 12 noon so that you may peruse them at your leisure.

After a little flurry of snow last night, we are happy to say the roads are clear, the fires are roaring and we are well and truly open for food or just a lovely pint of one of our 8 traditional hand pulled ales!
