Burns Night at the Black Jug ~ Thursday 22nd January
Thursday 22nd January
Oidhche Bhlas Burns
In honour of Scotland’s best-loved bard, we invite you to dust off your sporran, don your kilt and brave the cold for a proper celebration of Robert Burns. Join us for an evening of Scottish culinary favourites, warming single malts and a touch of time-honoured ceremony.
We’ll be serving a bespoke three-course menu for the night, featuring much-loved classics including black pudding, neeps and tatties and, of course, the famous “wee beastie” — haggis. Full menu details will be shared shortly, so keep an eye out.
We’ll be holding the evening on Thursday 22nd January, a couple of days early — but Burns deserves more than just one night, and we simply couldn’t wait.
In true tradition, the haggis will be formally addressed as “chieftain o’ the puddin’ race” by our esteemed regular Stewart, before being ceremoniously piped around the pub by former national piping champion, Donald.
No Burns Night would be complete without whisky. With over 250 single malts behind the bar here at The Black Jug, choosing may be the hardest part — though our team will be on hand with thoughtful recommendations throughout the evening.
This is always a popular night, so early booking is strongly advised to avoid disappointment. Proceedings will begin promptly at 7pm, so please arrive in good time.
We hope you can join us to raise a glass to Rabbie Burns.
