The Plough & Harrow Sunflower Competition

This year, we’d love to invite you to join us for a bit of light-hearted fun as we set ourselves a challenge… who can grow the biggest sunflower?

It’s not just about winning - it’s about seeing how many sunflowers we can get blooming across the local area. Can we turn Guarlford, Malvern and beyond into a sea of sunshine? Whether you’ve got a garden or just a pot by the front door, everyone can get involved - and it’s a great one for the children too.

To keep things fair, we’ll all be starting with the same seed - the mighty Giant Titan. You can collect yours free from the bar, with 50 envelopes available (each containing two seeds) from 1st May. Once they’re gone, they’re gone!

Plant your seeds, nurture them over the summer, and see how tall they can grow. The competition will run through to 31st August, when we’ll be crowning our winners.

We’d love to follow your progress along the way, so do keep us updated with photos as your sunflower grows. We’ll be sharing our own on Facebook, and you can tag us in yours too. Will anyone reach the dizzying heights of 14 feet?

The Plough & Harrow team will be judging entries across three categories:
Tallest Sunflower
Largest Bloom
Best Youth Entry (Under 16s)

Each category winner will enjoy a drink on the house, and our overall winner will take home a meal for two along with the coveted title of Plough & Harrow Sunflower Champion 2026.
