Beaujolais Nouveau

Thursday 19th November

Beaujolais Nouveau

It's nearly time to uncork the first bottles of this year's Beaujolais Nouveau, and we think that's a rather good excuse for a little French celebration!

Join us on Thursday 19th November from 12 noon as we raise a glass to the arrival of the new vintage and enjoy a taste of France at the pub.

Our chefs will be putting together a special French-inspired menu for the occasion, available for both lunch and dinner, with plenty of dishes to enjoy alongside a glass or two of Beaujolais Nouveau. Made from the Gamay grape, Beaujolais Nouveau is a wonderfully fresh, fruity and easy-drinking red wine, released each year on the third Thursday of November, just weeks after the grapes have been harvested.

The 2026 vintage is expected to be a little different. Following the hot weather and an earlier harvest, the grapes are expected to produce a darker, more concentrated wine than usual, while retaining the fresh fruit character that makes Beaujolais Nouveau such a favourite.

The arrival of the new vintage is a tradition that has inspired some rather extraordinary journeys over the years, with bottles travelling by everything from hot-air balloon to Concorde in the race to deliver the wine!

Traditionally served slightly chilled and best enjoyed while it's young, Beaujolais Nouveau is a wine that doesn't need much encouragement to be opened. And we certainly won't be keeping ours until Christmas...
