About Us

Here is just a little info to let you get to know our pub better...

Here is little potted history of our pub and the local area... if you have a spare minute or two and maybe a cup of tea (or is that a G&T), we think it's well worth read.

Download it here...

If you'd like to put a name to a face, allow us to introduce you to the crew...

Front of house

Steven Larkin

Steve is a Lancashire lad that originally joined us back in 2014 when he opened the Aspinall Arms. After a couple of years at the Aspinall he went over to Haighton Manor in Preston and has just about come to terms with the fact that now he is going to be a Yorkshire Landlord at The Bull! Steve has a bit of a soft spot for our company as this is where he met his wife Anna. They recently tied the knot in Santorini and if you can't find Steve working you will be sure to find him in a local pub somewhere nearby enjoying married life.

Jo Shallis

Deputy Manager

Jo's originally from Brighton and after falling in love with Skipton moved up North more than 20 years ago. The Bull was one of Jo's locals for several years before she was tempted to join the team back in 2012. Her husband actually proposed to her here on Boxing Day 2001 (he was very drunk)! She loves exploring the stunning Yorkshire Dales in her spare time and loves to cook on her days off. Being a keen wine enthusiast, Jo can often be found sitting on the right side of the bar enjoying a tipple and chatting with the locals.

Lizzie Wilson

Assistant Manager

Lizzie's heart has always been in hospitality, having completed her degree in Travel Operations Management. She loves walking her 2 black labs Jet and Lilly in her spare time around the Ribble Valley. She's recently started attending Blackburn Rover matches with her other half and is becoming a keen supporter (this adds to the banter with the Kitchen team)! She enjoys dining out, in her spare time exploring new pubs and restaurants.

Dominic Frankland

Dom is as keen as mustard and full of energy. Having previously worked nearby, Dom just couldn't resist the Aspinall's charm and decided to come aboard and join the team.

Aaron Cunliffe

Aaron started work here when he was 16, working part-time at weekends and throughout the holidays. After gaining his degree at Newcastle University in Business with Marketing Management, it wasn't long before he was offered a full-time role and promoted to Supervisor, and he's now set his sights on running his own pub one day! Until then, we will continue to enjoy his upbeat personality and stories of the two recent additions to his family, puppies Leela and Bean.

Bethany Hindle

Bar/Waiting Staff

The always bubbly Beth has worked for us for over a year now. Working weekends and evenings she still manages to find time to thrive on her Level 3 Sports Diploma at Craven College, playing for several local sports teams and taking part in annual charity runs (definitely one of the most active members of our team here). Staff and customers alike enjoy her upbeat and enthusiastic personality as it spreads into everything she does.

Louise Hooson

Bar/Waiting Staff

Louise worked at The Bull several years ago, and after a break found herself missing the camaraderie and decided to re-join the team last year, and we're so pleased she did! Never short of a smile or a laugh, she's our lovely lunch time lady

Rebecca Willson

Bar/Waiting Staff

Bex as she's fondly known, loves our four-legged visitors and always welcomes them with a bowl of water and doggie treats. She has a passion for good food and often eats here with her parents (their treat of course) with Lilly her lovely Labrador in tow.

William Sullivan

Bar/Waiting Staff

Will joined our team a year ago, totally new to the area and industry (previously living in Hertfordshire). He has since gained a passion for hospitality and we all look forward to seeing him continue to grow and thrive here. When he's not working you'll often find him exploring the Yorkshire countryside with his fiance and two lovely dogs.

Paul Morris

Head Chef

Paul's a Yorkshire lad born and bred and lives on the beautiful Broughton Hall Estate with his wife Liga and Mocha the Labrador (all amongst a whole menagerie of pets named after his favourite food and drink)! His passion for serving good homemade food has spanned more than 18 years in restaurants throughout Leeds and Harrogate. Having joined The Bull more than 4 years ago he has built a fantastic Team in the Kitchen who all share the same drive and enthusiasm. Apart from being an avid Leeds fan and keen golfer, he can often be spotted in the local area walking Mocha.

Radek Szatkowski

Sous Chef

Radek is originally from Poland and has lived in Yorkshire for more than 12 years. He originally worked with Paul in Harrogate, and their great working relationship quickly led Radek to join him here at The Bull. Radek's favourite tipple is Vodka and can be found sampling the odd shot with friends on his days off.

Benjamin Metcalfe

Junior Sous Chef

Ben joined The Bull as an apprentice over 4 years ago, and his drive and passion in the Kitchen has quickly led him to become our Junior Sous Chef. When he's not at work he'll be found on his X-Box or playing football. Being a keen Man U fan (boo) this brings plenty of banter with the Kitchen team on match days.

David Hurn

Senior Chef de Partie

David's passionate about food and not only loves creating dishes in the Kitchen here at The Bull he thoroughly enjoys cooking with his family at home, experimenting with world cuisines. His other passion is Blackburn Rovers and as a season ticket holder can often be heard 'singing' on the terraces throughout the match! He took up running several years ago and has successfully completed a number of half marathon's, most recently the Great North Run, raising money for local charities.

Ben Johnson

Chef de Partie

'Todders' as he's fondly known (his hometown is Todmorden), is probably the cheekiest member of the team, but always eager to learn and is partial to a good pudding or two. He likes nothing more than hanging out with his mates on his days off in his hometown playing football and cooking for his family.

Jake Carr

Chef de Partie

Jake loves to keep fit and is a keen cyclist. He's probably the politest chef you'll come across and we love him for that. His spare time is spent fishing, walking his dogs and spending quality time with his girlfriend.

Ellis Clarke

Commis Chef

Ellis joined the team as an Apprentice this year from Craven College and we're delighted he chose The Bull to start his career in catering. With his enthusiasm and eagerness to learn, it won't be long before we see some of his own dishes appearing on our Menu.

Christine Long

Christine is probably the most cheerful member of the team first thing in the morning, keeping the place spick and span ready for opening.
