Our garden will be open from April 12th – Hooray!
We can open up our garden for bookings from 2 households or groups of up to 6 people from mixed households (including children), to enjoy some alfresco eating and drinking from April 12th. We do have outside areas that can be booked online between April 12th and May 17th or alternatively, we are keeping some tables aside should you just want to pop down and enjoy a drink or a bite to eat without a booking. (Please note, from May 17th when we’re able to open inside the pub, you won’t be able to book outside tables online. Any bookings made from May 17th will be for inside the pub.).
Whilst we are obviously all keeping everything crossed for good weather, it’s best to come prepared for every eventuality, so wrap up warm, bring a blanket and perhaps even an umbrella, just in case. If the heavens do open, we’re really sorry but we won’t be able to allow you to shelter inside the pub.

Welcome
If you've not visited the pub before, you'll find the Refectory a fascinating building seemingly built from architectural salvage, a legacy of its time under the ownership of a family of renowned antique dealers. The Refectory was originally a cattle barn belonging to Milford House, which is the enormous house to the right of the building as you look at it.
It is extraordinary what you can make of a cattle barn: open fires and ancient wooden beams create a homely, cosy feel, whilst outside the extensive grounds and terrace garden are great for enjoying those rare days of sun.
As well as freshly prepared, locally sourced food, you are sure to find a buzzy atmosphere, plenty of cask ales, and an enviable collection of whiskies.
Menus
Our passion lies in finding quality fresh ingredients and preparing, cooking and presenting them in a modern but unpretentious way. Our menus have a spine of classic British dishes complemented by more exotic influences from other parts of the world. We upload them to our web site each day before 12 noon so that you may peruse them at your leisure.

Thanks to our customers recommending us, you'll find us in the:
