Welcome to the Nelson Inn
The Inn was built around 1776 and remained as a private house until early in the 19th century. For much of its early years the pub used to be more or less a farm with a sack over the door where locals came in for a drink. We had thought, being so landlocked, that it was a bit odd having such a nautical name, but we are assured that it received its name ‘when Nelson‘s great victory at Trafalgar thrilled the whole country’ – that would have been around 1805, so who are we to mess about with it now!
We hope you find our pub cosy and welcoming, with the perfect spot for you, whether that be in front of the fire, in the hub bub of the bar area, or in one of the windows taking in the beautiful countryside views or perhaps in our Private Dining room surrounded by loved ones.
Menus
Our passion lies in finding quality fresh ingredients and preparing, cooking and presenting them in a modern but unpretentious way. Our menus have a spine of classic British dishes complemented by more exotic influences from other parts of the world. We upload them to our web site each day so that you may peruse them at your leisure.
We’re lucky to have lots of attractions close by, so we thought we’d put a list together, in case you fancied heading along to one before or after you visit us.
Things to do near usAllTrails have kindly created a circular walk from the pub to help you work up that thirst/appetite. You can view the walk details via any of the routes below. (varying levels of tech savviness required -Ed)
