We first came across Tidbury Green Farm back in 2016 and since then – 5 years, 3 months and 9 days to be exact we have been enduring to secure it as the newest member of the Brunning and Price family of pubs. It’s been complicated (as has everyone’s life over the last 2 years!) but we are thrilled that we now have the keys and we can start to plan for the future.
Tidbury Green Farm was what was termed as a ‘loose courtyard farm’, dating originally from the 17th century, with alterations and remodelling throughout the next two centuries. It may have begun as a timber-framed house, in common with the majority of farms in the area, and later have been encased in the red brick that you see today. The farmhouse is small, (but large enough to house an ‘attic cheese room’ – they had their priorities right!) in comparison to the many outbuildings; a four-stall stable, double-bay barn, five-tie cowhouse and calf pen, seven-tie cowhouse, three pigsties and an implement shed. There is also a lawned garden and a duck pond with a family mallards – our inspiration for renaming the farm as ‘the Mallard’.
We are in the very early stages of planning at the moment, hoping to draw up our pans through this winter ready to start work later in 2022. If you would like to keep up to speed with our developments, Like us on Facebook, or subscribe to our mailing list below and we will send you the odd update. By subscribing to our mailing list, once we are open, you will be entered into our monthly competition to win a meal to the value of £50.
With the help of the AllTrails App, we are planning to create a circular walk from the pub and through the surrounding area, to help you work up that thirst/appetite. You will be able to view the walk details via a number of ways (varying levels of tech savviness required -Ed)
