Assistant Manager

Salary package £21,000 - £23,000 plus tips and company benefits

We are looking for an experienced Assistant Manager to join the crew at the Prae Wood Arms in St Albans.

The bar is at the heart of the building with six cask ales on tap, an extensive wine list and a fine spirit selection. Our seasonal menus include high quality, freshly cooked classic British dishes complemented by some more exotic influences from around the world.

As an Assistant Manager you’ll be a key member of the pub management team supporting the manager and deputy manager in many aspects of the day to day running of the pub. As well as helping to select wines and beers, you’ll join in with menu development with the chef team, take responsibility for managing people and ensure we provide great informal, friendly and professional service.

Being an Assistant Manager is an ideal opportunity to gain knowledge and experience of every aspect of pub restaurant life and we provide structured training and development along the way. We see our Assistant Managers as our Managers of the future, and try to promote from within whenever we can. Cellar Supervisor

We are looking for a cheerful, out-going, friendly Bar/Cellar Supervisor to join the bar/waiting team at the Prae Wood Arms in St Albans

We’re proud of our range of real ales and need to find someone with a real enthusiasm for cask conditioned beer to keep the beers and cellar in tip-top condition as well as working front of house.

Chef de Partie

Salaries from £18,000 - £23,000 plus paid overtime, tips & company benefits

We are looking for experienced Chefs de Partie and Senior Chefs de Partie to join the crew at The Prae Wood Arms in St Albans, the latest acquisition to the Brunning and Price family of pub restaurants.

Our Chefs de Partie undertake key roles in the kitchen and we’re looking for people with good cooking skills and experience of working in a busy, fresh food environment.

You’ll have the opportunity to gain experience working across all areas of the kitchen and will generally be given responsibility to look after a particular section with the help of other chefs. On a daily basis you’ll be supporting the Sous Chefs and Head Chef in a range of duties including fresh food preparation and cooking as well as undertaking kitchen management duties including ordering, stock control and ensuring food safety and cleaning standards are met.

As part of the team, you’ll help develop seasonal menus with a spine of freshly prepared, classic British dishes, complemented by more exotic influences from other parts of the world – in other words, modern British cookery.

Creating a happy working atmosphere is vital to the successful running of the kitchens and comes high on our agenda and so your contribution to creating a friendly and supportive working environment is crucial.

The potential here is enormous and we’re looking for ambitious, creative and committed chefs with a passion for good food who are ready to take the next step in their career. Depending on your experience, as a Chef de Partie or Senior Chef de Partie, we’ll reward you with a starting salary package up to £23,000 per annum.

Part-time Cleaner - 5 mornings per week

£10 per hour

We are looking for friendly and conscientious cleaner who takes a real pride in their work to work 5 mornings per week, approximately 15-20 hours per week 
Previous experience is preferred - general duties include vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, dusting, polishing, toilet cleaning, use of floor buffing machine and other general cleaning tasks.

Part time Weekend Cleaner - mornings

£10 per hour

Part-time Maintenance/Handyperson

£10 - £12 per hour

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic part time handyperson to help us keep our pub looking at its best. 
This is a flexible role working 10-20 hours per week Monday to Friday
The successful candidate will either have experience in this type of role or have confidence in most DIY tasks as the position involves general maintenance such as painting, woodwork, basic plumbing and general keeping the pub and grounds in good repair.
