Classic Vin de Pays d'Oc: this is bone dry with plenty of substance.

Fresh off the boat, this South American number is grassy and zesty with a refreshing finish.
Firefinch Sauvignon Blanc (South Africa) 22.40
A herbaceous, nettley but crisp Sauvignon which is resolutely Loire in style: lovely grapefruit overtones.

This is a classic Sancerre and is just as it should be: crisp and dry with a decent citrus edge, but with good weight of fruit that avoids any hint of harshness.
Clean and rounded

A very pleasant easy drinking wine with a hint of tropical fruit.

Light as meringue and playful as a puppy: you won't want to put this down.

Hint of flint with very fresh fruit flavours, a classic version of a classic.
Aromatic or tropical
Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc (New Zealand) 40.80
The best of the best - this is the icon of New Zealand Sauvignons and sets the standards by which all others are judged, and justly so.

Established for the last 250 years in Alsace, this old timer has delicate Pinot aromas and all the structure, balance and length of a great white.
Fairleigh Estate Sauvignon Blanc (New Zealand) 22.45
Ripe, lemony and zesty with an exquisite mouth-watering bouquet. Is not being superhuman at rugby enough for the Kiwis.

A very pleasant biscuity nose leads into a juicy, friendly champagne that is very approachable and easy to drink.
Dessert wine

Golden rich and luscious from a great vintage.

Rich and smooth with a hint of sweet spice - especially good with chocolate.

Beautifully clean, red cherry fruit makes this very moreish indeed.
Elegant and less weighty
Ceps du Sud Grenache (France) £3.00 £17.35
Soft and rounded with cherry and vanilla flavours to the fore.
Raimat Abadia Tinto Crianza (Spain) £3.20 £16.90
A light blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Tempranillo produce a Spanish red with all the spice - but a little lighter on the Olé.
Mansion House Bay Pinot Noir (New Zealand 2005) £26.50
Maybe more famous for their Sauvignon Blancs, the Kiwis have been busy working their magic on the red juice too, making an elegant wine with a smooth supple texture.
Escale Pinot Noir (France) £3.50 £19.40
A brilliant little wine. Fine Burgundy it's not, but it's really carefully made and displays excellent fruit with ripe cherries and touches of vanilla tobacco. Pinot lovers everywhere, come and have a go.
Fleurie, Georges de Boeuf (France) £28.60
This is velvety with floral fruit aromas, vanilla and butterscotch with good grip. A delicate wine.
Smooth and earthy
Le Clos des Templiers (France) £29.20
A southern Rhone wine fron the Granache and Mouvedre grapes, this has a beloved farmyard nose which opens up with time, and a rich juicy palate with power and finesse.
St Emilion de Producteurs (France) £25.50
This is proper kit: smooth, full and velvety on the palate: the quintessential soft and fleshy St Emilion.
Tanners Claret (France) £3.65 £20.40
Sometimes inexpensive claret can be dried out and dusty, but not this succulent little number.
Alain Jaume Haut de Brun Cotes du Rhone (France 2006) £20.40
Proper old school grown up stuff. Red berries and a hint of spice make this an easy drinking classic.
Casa De la Ermita Organic Jumilla crianza (Spain) £19.40
A bit of a mouthful to pronounce and quite a mouthful on the palate: oak-aged to give it a rich spiciness, this slips down very well.
Rocbhere Merlot (France) £2.90 £15.90
Spending more time in the sun than your average WAG, this easy drinker from the Languedoc region is very light with lots of soft fruit and a velvety character.

Immense first growth Claret from a vineyard of renowned quality.
Castillo D Clavijo Barrel Fermented £2.90 £17.40
An easy going Rioja that is great by itself. Fruity flavours and well rounded.
Warm and spicy

A big wine with a big taste from Burgundy - famous for good reason.
Marmesah Cerro Romoulado Syrah (California) £22.50
Sharing a knowledge of science and a passion for wine, the Americans behind this have come up with a spectacular wine: fruit, spice, smoke and tannins. What's next, the moon.

A typically jammy Oz Shiraz with a hint of spice to make it nice.
Simon Hackett Shiraz (Australia) £26.00
This is at the finer end of things - smooth and well rounded.
Ebano 6 Ribera del Duero (Spain) £24.50
Intense 100 percent Tempranillo: this is silky and smooth with pleasnt touches of ripe fruits and liquorice.
Argento Piropo Malbec (Argentina 2007) £3.30 £18.40
Very vogueish and very mature with silky tannins.
Louis Jadot Beaujoulais (France 2007) £25.50
An alternative to the full throttle new world reds, this oozes dry deep red fruit flavours.
Ruffina Chianti Classico £20.40
Hints of cherry, spice and a slightly addictive balsamic note. A body that finishes with a real freshness.
Berri Estates Merlot (Australia) £15.80
Intense fruit and gentle tannins give this New Worlder a smooth velvet finish.
Rich and plummy
Chateau Saint Quentin (France) £19.40
A bit of a French smoothy with shiny shoes and a cravat.
Chateau Lescalle Bordeaux Superior (France) £30.60
Medal-winning Bordeaux of subtlety, finesse and elegance. We've also got it as a magnum.

Masterful wine drawing its flavours from the earth, and deep routed tradition: respect due.

A really well rounded drop with ripe red fruits and spicy vanilla.
The Spice Route Mourvedre (South Africa) £20.40
The name says it all: dark, chewy, oaky, smokey and err. spicy.
Dark and satanic
Fontanafredda Barolo (Italy) £32.70
A muscular meaty red, leatheryand plummy. A fantastic wine of gigantic proportions.
Santa Rita Reserva Merlot (Chile 2007) £23.50
Beautiful deep opulent wine with gentle, balanced tannins.
Chateau Musar (Lebanon 1999) £35.80
Legendary wine with a legion of fans worldwide (fully paid up member reporting). Dense with ripe pepper and tobacco tones soaked in blackberry and raspberry fruit.
