Crisp and dry

Perfect easy going wine, with bags of fruit and an ideal balance of acidity. Light and gluggable.
Domaine Grauzan Sauvignon Blanc. France 3.20 17.50
This is concise, fresh and light with an instantly recognisable French Sauvignon style.
Domiane Curot Sancerre 2006. France 33.00
This is fresh and lively yet with a delicate finish. It's dry and fruity on the nose, full of tropical flavour with a floral and grassy overtone. A belter.
Clean but rounded
Chapel Hill Sauvignon Blanc. Hungary 2.80 14.95
Get a load of this one, nice zesty mouth feel, hits of lemons and limes, yet with a very crisp and rounded finish. Proof that the Hungarians can do more than just dessert wine.
Neblina Chardonnay. Chile 2.80 15.50
Youthful, lively and fresh, this Sauvignon Blanc has herbal tropical notes on the nose, followed by a citrus palate.
Aresti Sauvignon Blanc. Chile 2.90 15.95
The Curico Valley has long been recognised as a leading region for Sauvignon Blanc and this is a perfect example, being intensely fruity and sultry with refreshing flavours.
Cantina Villafranca Frascati 2006. Italy 2.95 16.25
This elegant and harmonious number has a lovely crispness and cleanliness about it with fresh and delicate fruity aromas. Perfect for lighter summer food or general quaffing.
Le Vele Verdicchio 2007. Italy 18.95
Full of intense fruity flavours, this gentle and refined wine has a palate that is ripe, supple and rich.
Devil's Corner Sauvignon Blanc 2007. Tasmania 26.75
Bursting with a zesty citrus flavour with a leafy and grassy tang on the palate. It has a sharp, crisp and ultimately bracing finish. A great alternative to the usual Sauvignons.
Aromatic and tropical
Allan Scott Sauvignon Blanc 2006. New Zealand 4.60 25.50
This has all the fantastic classic Kiwi attributes: crisp lime, gooseberry and grapefruit flavours, but without breaking the bank.
Henri Ehrhart Muscat 2005. Alsace 19.50
This has lovely grapey Muscat fruit on the nose with good weight and flavour in the mouth. The ripe fruit is balanced by good acidity.
Pouilly Fumé 'La Rambarde' 2006. Domaine Landrat Guyollot. France 32.00
This elegant Pouilly is fruity with a peach and lemon zest on the nose and the palate. It has good freshness with fine aromatics and good acidity levels.
Rich and full
Slowine Chenin Sauvignon South Africa 3.10 17.00
Chenin grows superbly in South Africa and blending with a hint of Sauvignon makes it even better. Floral overtones, with a crisp Granny Smith's edge on the palate.
Witt's End Chardonnay. Australia 3.10 17.00
A delicate white, full of flavour with lots of tropical fruits and limes evident and a reviving finish.
Solaguen Rioja Blanco 2006. Spain 21.95
A delicious little number from Spain with a clean tenacious taste of fruit and a hint of nuttiness. This has great depth and character.
Gavi di Gavi - La Toledana 2007. Italy 22.00
Another old favourite, made from Cortese grapes which impart a clear, dry white with a hint of grapefruit. Hand picked from a single vineyard to give the best flavours.
Eikendal Chardonnay Stellenbosch 2004. South Africa 27.00
Big boy wine: lots of vanilla with rich lemon and honeysuckle overtones. Very smooth mouth feel with a luscious toasty finish. Decanter magazine World Wine Gold medal winner.
Lucien Tardieu Chablis 2006. France 34.50
Bursting with wonderful ripe fruit aromas of summer flowers with a hint of oak. It's rich and buttery with a incisive, satisfying finish.
Rosé
Casa Defra Pinot Grigio Blush.Italy 2.90 16.00
A delicate yet lively nose of fresh raspberries and wild strawberries. Brisk, light and fragrant on the palate with a succulent finish. Go on, you know you're tempted.
Slowine Rosé. South Africa 3.20 17.50
A darker rosé, embodied by the strawberry and cherry flavours that burst through on the nose and the palate.
Chateau St Roch Lirac 2006. France 22.50
A delicious brightly coloured pink. Hand made in small amounts, this wine is bursting with summer fruits, yet remains dry and invigorating. One bottle is not enough.
Champagne and Sparkling
Antonini Ceresa Pinot Chardonnay Brut. Italy 3.30 18.00
This wine has a bouquet of fresh friut and flowers: on the palate it is dry and clean with a very refreshing finish - the perfect aperitif.
Dei Colli Trevigiani Prosecco. Italy 3.80 20.50
An off-dry, fruity wine with not too much fizz. All good fun for all.
Château de Montguéret Saumur Rosé. France 28.00
Don't be put off by the Vegas style packaging, this is a serious piece of pink bubbly action that stands up against the aristocrats of Champagne.
House Champagne - Louis Jaunay. France 33.00
International Wine Challenge Bronze Medal. Super quality, hint of lemons with delicate bubbles. This Champagne property is owned by Piper Heidsieck.
Taittinger Brut. France 40.00
We have paired the rosé with the brut, as we like to keep things simple. This is straw yellow in colour with a nice toasty, yeasty finish. Why drink anything else?.
Taittinger Rosé. France 50.25
Classy Champagne house. Their wines are highly regarded around the world. The pink is sublime, with a hint of blackcurrant and an elegant softness in the finish. A charming fizz.

An easy drinking medium-bodied red full of fruit flavours.
Warm and Spicy
R. and M. Australia 2.80 15.00
THis is Merlot to the very bottom of its soft, warm, velvet boots. One of our best value wines, simple as that.
Peaks View, Shiraz. South Africa 2.80 15.00
Peppery, dry yet fruity, with hints of wild berries and mint. A touch of oak on the finish, this is a great wine right on the money.
Witt's End Shiraz. Australia 3.25 17.95
A great example of Ozzie Shiraz. Deep red in colour, packed with aromas of spices, berries and vanilla with a full and pleasing length. No wonder it's returned to our list.
Chateau Les Amoureuses 2005. Cotes du Rhone. France 28.95
An intense wine with a seductive nose, an explosion of berries and ripe fruit, delicate tannins and a sensational finish. Similar to Muhammad Ali, it floats like a butterfly and...you know the rest.
The Wooing Tree 2006. Pinot Noir. Central Otago, New Zealand 35.00
A complex and poweful wine with aromas of ripe cherries and plums with a rich and silky smooth palate with fine grainy tannins to match the fruit. We've all been seduced by it.
Domaine Riche Chateauneuf-du-Pape 2003. France 38.50
A complex bouquet with black fruits, spicy and leather aromas. Full bodied and well balanced with silky tannins and very good length. C'est magnifique.
Smooth and Earthy
Protocolo Tempranillo. Spain 2.70 14.50
An old favourite of the bar staff. Very soft and smooth, so lay your tired head on this velvet cushion, and let the world pass by.
Livingstone Cinsaut Ruby Cabernet. South Africa 2.80 15.00
This complimentary blend of two varietals is extremely drinkable. Full of berries on the palate leading to a rich, soft finish.
Alto Pampas. Pinot Noir, Argentina 2.95 16.25
A fresh, pure New World Pinot with typical leafy, raspberry flavours and soft ripe tannins.
Heredad de Barros. Spain 3.60 20.00
This is full on vanilla and oak, leading to a very soft spicy finish. A classy wine that is very close in style to Rioja.
Vino De Eyzaguirre Cabernet Sauvignon. Chile 3.90 21.50
'Wine in the Sack' would be the translation here, because errr, the bottle is wrapped in hessian. Aromatic and plummy, rich and well balanced in flavour with a long, smooth finish.
Lar De Lares 2002 Reserva Bodegas Inviosa. Spain 25.50
Powerful, ample and full-bodied wine made exclusively from Tempranillo. The fruit is beautifully integrated and the finish is soft and long.
Nexus Cabernet Sauvignon 2004. Italy 27.50
A full bodied berry flavour with hints of liquorice and vanilla. An intense, rich wine with a gentle finish.
Muga Rioja Reserva, 2003. Spain 29.95
As expected lots of oak and delicious vanilla overtones backed up with some juicy strawberry fruits. This is a big, fat Rioja, just as it should be.
Elegant and Light
Chianti Riserva Villa Tropani 2002. Italy 18.00
A classic Chianti showing bitter cherries, sweet spice and enough tannins to go with any steaks or roasts.
Savigny Les Beaune 2001 1er Cru 'Champs Chevrey'. France 38.00
Superb Burgundy from Tollot- Beaut. It has elegance, smoothness, hints of spice and a soft depth of character. An outstanding wine.
Rich and Plummy
Tiera Brisa Malbec Bonardo. Argentina 2.70 14.50
Delightful blend, blackberries from one, raspberry and spice from the other. Drink on its own or maybe with a bit of pasta.
Aresti Merlot. Chile 2.90 16.00
Deep coloured red with a complex fruit aroma, it has vivid fruit characters with spicy, jammy flavours. Good spread on toast.
Chateau Meaume. Bordeaux Superieur 2003. France 19.00
From just above Pomerol, this is a lovely wine as our pouring claret. Quality driven rich, plummy and rounded Merlot fruit finishes with gentle acidity. Stylish and slurpable.
Dark and Satanic
Barocco Primtivo 2006. Italy 17.00
Deep ruby red with a berry fruit and spice nose with a warm and rich zesty palate. A wolf in sheep's clothing, this, as it packs a punch.
Capell's Court Shiraz 2007. South Africa 19.50
Dense and concentrated with a potent core of currant, black plums, nuts and juicy summer fruits stacked up, finishing with a sweeter, spicy edge and soft but plush tannins. It all comes together nicely on the harmonious finish.
Barbera d'Alba - Renato Fenocchi 2004. Italy 30.00
Made in the north west of Italy close to Barolo. The wine shares similar characteristics to Barolo, with soft ripe tannins, a silky finish and bags of black cherries.
Zenato Ripassa Valpolicella 2006. Italy 32.50
This is an intense, full-bodied deep ruby red with hints of plain chocolate and a velvet-like finish.
Dessert wines
Chateau Dereszla, Tokaji 2000. Hungary 18.95
One of the worlds greatest sweet wines. Full flavoured and luscious with hints of orange peel rising above the intense fresh fruit aromas. (18.5cl).
Aresti Late Harvest Gewurztraminer. Chile 15.00
With a golden yellow colour, this reveals flowers, spices and caramel on the nose. On the palate, well-balanced sugar and acidity make it fresh and easy to drink. (37.5cl).
Maury Mas Amiel 2005. France 5.00 27.50
One of the tastiest red dessert wines that we have ever had, cherries and blackcurrants with nicely balanced sugar. This is a natural with any chocolate dessert.
