    Crisp and dry
    Le Poesie Pinot Grigio - Italy 3.00 16.75
    Crisp, yet with a touch more weight than you might expect with lightly honeyed fruit and a fresh dry finish.
    Ceresa Grillo - Italy 15.95
    Citrus and apple make for a dry, light and refreshing easy drinker. If you fancy a change from Pinot Grigio this might just fit the bill.
    Les Celliers de la Roche, A Bonhomme Muscadet - France 18.75
    A lovely, refreshingly crisp white with all the usual vivacity that the Loire is famous for. Perfect with fish.

    Marques de Caceres Blanco, Rioja - Spain 19.75
    A hugely aromatic wine with intense apple and pear flavours. No oak, just bags of ripe fruit and a vibrant fresh finish.

    Yummy rich tropical fruit flavours with a smooth dry finish - lovely easy drinking.
    Tin Roof Chardonnay - Australia 3.00 16.75
    Quirky unoaked Aussie action. Rich peach and pineapple flavours with crisp lemon and lime acidity make for a deliciously fruity easy drinker. .

    Aromatic and tropical
    Comtesse de Beaux Lieux - France 3.10 16.95
    Especially chosen for those of you looking for something on the sweeter side of life. Fragrant and juicy, it may even convert a few sceptics .
    Allan Scott Sauvignon Blanc - Marlborough, New Zealand 26.95
    Lip-smacking 'lemon and lime' with gooseberry and kiwi-fruit overtones. Allan holds his Sauvignon back a little to develop depth and complexity. A Kiwi classic.
    Cono Sur Gewurztraminer - Chile 22.25
    A cracking example, packed with tropical fruit aromas and a touch of spice. Perfect with spicy food.
    Henri Ehrhart Muscat d'Alsace Reserve 2005 - France 21.95
    This has lovely honeysuckle and peaches on the nose with great weight and flavour in the mouth. It truly deserves to be a favourite.
    Mas du Lubian Viognier 2006 Coteaux de L'Ardeche - Rhone 24.95
    Honeyed, voluptuous, aromatic and floral. Luscious 'white peachy' fruit with white pepper overtones lead to an unexpectedly mineralic finish.
    Rich and full
    Angels Flight Chardonnay - California 21.00
    Old school, full flavoured Chardonnay. Peachy aromas backed up with a mouthful of delicious butterscotch and a soft lemony finish.
    Louis Latour, Macon Lugny - Burgundy 23.50
    Louis Latour's ever popular white Burgundy from the heart of Maconnais. Heavier in style than Chablis but still maintaining a crisp and creamy elegance.
    Remi Rollin Pernard-Vergelesses 2005 - Burgundy 33.50
    A stunning white Burgundy with a ripe almondy nose then plenty of peach and lemon flavours. A truly lovely wine.

    Pink stuff

    An easy going Rose, juicy, fresh and bursting with strawberry fruit. The perfect little pink number for any occasion.
    Chateau Famaey Malbec - Cahors France 3.20 17.95
    Dry with a touch of sweetness and lots of lovely red berry aromas, it definitely demands a second bottle.
    Fizzy stuff
    Villa Domiziano Prosecco Frizzante - Italy 3.80 20.95
    Frizzante has a gentler fizz than Spumante prosecco, but is certainly no less fun. An Italian aperitif with great flavour, a lovely crisp, dry finish and no need of a reason to have a bottle. Or two.

    Pink, with a hint of fizz and packed with soft raspberry fruit makes for the perfect accompaniment to a summers afternoon.
    Camille Saves Brut Champagne - France 38.00
    A Premier cru Champagne picked from the vine yards of Bouzy (great name) Proper kit, perfect for any occasion.
    Veuve Clicquot - France 47.00
    Full, rich and powerful with about as many hard edges as a blancmange, Veuve Clicquot is one of the best known and most enjoyed Champagnes around.

    A soft and fruity little Italian number that hits the spot nicely.
    Elegant and less weighty
    Jacques Charlet Beaujolais - France 19.75
    Juicy and very drinkable - white flower aromas followed by raspberry flavours in the mouth.
    Amanti Sangiovese -Italy 16.95
    Attractive, easy going wine with juicy soft fruit and gentle hints of black cherries.
    Zeni Bardolino - Italy 19.95
    Bardolino is the classic lunchtime wine of Varona: flowers on the nose, velvety and full flavoured in the mouth.
    Smooth and earthy
    Vina Palaciega Rioja - Spain 3.25 17.95
    A young stylish Rioja with a fresh juicy palate. Raspberries and blackberries followed by full flavours of vanilla and spice.
    Dentelier Cotes du Rhone - France 3.00 16.25
    Warm Southern sun encourages ripe berry flavours with hints of herbs and a touch of pepper.
    Protocolo Tempranillo - Spain 17.00
    A wine of great depth - plenty of spicy red berries finished with vanilla and a touch of oak.
    Tanners Claret - Bordeaux 20.75
    Much inexpensive Bordeaux can be dried out, hollow and dusty, but not this juicy, rounded little number which displays a proper, grown-up farmyard character.
    Arium Crianza Valdepenas, Albali - Spain 16.95
    Delicious blackberry fruit wrapped in velvety vanilla loveliness.
    Sierra Cantabria Rioja Reserva 2003 - Spain 33.95
    A velvet smooth, classic Rioja with bags of blackberries, raspberries and vanilla.
    Chateau Les Amoureuses Cotes du Rhone 2004 - France 28.95
    Ripe, glossy raspberry bouquet, spiced with a touch of black peppercorn with a long, long finish.
    Warm and spicy
    Rare Vineyards Pinot Noir - France 3.10 16.95
    From vineyards located in the South-West of Languedoc Roussillon, close to the Pyrenees. Smooth, velvety palate with cherry and blueberry flavours backed with a hint of sweet oak spice.
    Quinta do Correio Dao - Portugal 23.75
    Vibrant Dao red that is well structured but supple. Rhone like in style with delicously herb-scented brambly fruit.
    Wide River Shiraz - South Africa 3.10 17.25
    Easy going, soft red with plenty of spicy, peppery fruit and good hedgerow berry flavours.
    Crozes Hermitage Cave de Clairmonts - France 28.95
    With a lovely deep purple colour, this appealing wine has obvious blackberry fruit with good depth and rounded tannins. Spicy on the finish.
    Los Vilos Cabernet Sauvignon - Chile 3.10 17.25
    This Cabernet Sauvignon has a hint of Merlot that gives added roundness. Rich, ripe and fruity.
    Forge Mill Pinotage - South Africa 18.75
    The product of crossing Pinot Noir and Cinsault, Pinotage is South Africa's unique grape. This example is softly styled with berry fruit and a hint of oak.
    Rich and plummy
    Luis Felipe Lot 2 Malbec - Rapel Valley, Chile 2.80 15.75
    From old Malbec vines, old and new world characteristics combine to give a fragrant wine with plum, chocolate and spice.
    Remi and Jerome Syrah - France 18.50
    A full and juicy Shiraz overflowing with soft blackberries and damsons and plenty of southern French warmth to top it off. Lovely stuff.
    Ladera Verde Merlot - Chile 2.90 16.25
    A lovely plummy Merlot with a ripeness typical of Chile. Easy and very drinkable.
    Cerrillos Carmenere Reserva - Chile 21.75
    Rich, smooth and full flavoured, this is a big wine with great class. Aromas of fig and leather, plenty of berry fruit with hints of chocolate on the finish.
    Domaine La Condamine, Cepage Mourvedre - France 19.95
    Think freshly picked blackberries and you should have the measure of this Southern lovely. Rich and full flavoured Mourvèdre is one of the grape varieties in Châteauneuf.
    Saint Roch Chateauneuf du Pape - France 37.50
    This wine is blessed by the Gods. It is almost sacremental.
    Campolieti Valpolicella Ripasso - Italy 23.95
    Simply packed with rich berry fruit reminiscent of Christmas cake, this is fermented over the lees of their Amarone for an incredibly rich and fruity style.
    Dark and satanic
    Zenato Ripassa Valpolicella - Italy 34.00
    A rich dark-baked Christmas cake of a wine with a nose of sun-dried raisins. Amarone in all but name. Sublime.
    Rams Leap Shiraz - Australia 23.25
    America oak adds dark chocolate complexity to the plush blackcurrant flavours of this very moreish wine. Old World sophistication with an Australian pedigree.
    Vega Real Roble - Spain 23.25
    Full, fresh and extremely persistent with big fruit flavours from the exciting Ribera del Duero region. Something a bit different for the more adventurous amongst you.
    Feudi di San Marzano Negroamaro - Puglia 19.50
    This rich, dark and delicious wine has black cherry jam and mocha chocolate aromas followed by stewed, herby black fruits. Sumptuous stuff at a great price.
    Amicus Reserve Shiraz - Langhorn Creek 49.95
    What a beauty. Packed with black fruits and bursting with flavour, this is a great big bear hug of a wine.
    Pudding wine
    La Fleur des Pins, Graves Superieures - France (375ml) 15.95
    Okay, you could pay twice the price for Sauternes, but there's really no reason to. Full of orange and marmalade aromas the palate is fresh and loaded with lovely flavours.
    Tokaji Aszu 2004 - Hungary 16.95
    Noble dessert nectar with concentrated dried apricots and honey. Enough for four (just).
