Aromatic and Tropical

This is like a eating a flower bed. We tried it and we were amazed by the sheer abundance of flavours.

Tamar Ridge Chardonnay, Tasmania 24.50
This is an earthy type of Chardonnay that exemplifies all the great things we loved about the grape when we first tried it - the flavours are fresh and ripe with an abundance of melon and peaches.
Aresti Gewurzttraminer, Chile 2.70 15.25
Looked at this instead of one of those full-on petrol Alsaces, as Chile has significantly different sunshine, rainfall, and viniculture. See what the difference is: this is smoother and more floral, but is still distinctive in style.

Vivid blush colours. Like chilled summer berries in the Californian sun.
Slowine Rosé, South Africa 3.00 17.25
A darker rosé with hints of strawberry and cherry flavours, ideal for sitting out with on those long summer evenings. Simply moreish.

Gentle fruit body with delicate raspberry flavours and a long finish.
Pudding Wines

This is really different, not sticky and intense, but just an abundance of orange marmalade and ginger.

Full-bodied yet smooth and dry in flavour. An easy quaffing Italian number.
Light and Fruity
Cotes de Nuits St George, Nicholas Potel, Burgundy 37.00
The earthy nose of cherry and liquorice tells you this is proper kit - the subtlety of this fine Burgundy is a welcome relief from those interminable New World fruit-bombs.
Beaujolais-Villages, La Perdrisette, Thorin, France 19.95
This is velvety wine with strawberry aromas - proper Beaujolais.
Alto Pampas Pinot Noir, Argentina 2.95 17.50
This all that a new world Pinot should be: warm and loving with a good level of fruit that has had sun on its back. This has been given a little extra time on the vine to put on some weight and roll into the bottle, making a wine that's like a good cardie on a winter's day.
Montepulciano d'Abruzzo 'Ca Brigiano', Italy 3.00 17.95
Made in the Abruzzi region of Italy, this wine is an attractive deep ruby colour, with a soft plummy palate.
Warm and Spicy
Peter Lehmann Barossa Shiraz, Australia 3.00 17.95
Fantastic example of an Australian Shiraz. This is a deeply coloured, spicey red with a smooth creamy texture.
Wandering Bear Merlot, California 18.50
Medium-bodied, juicy Merlot. Rich and plummy aromas with a subtle hint of chocolate. Give this a nice warm home in your tummy.
Rucahue Carménère, Chile 21.50
Carmenere is a grape variety local to Chile. Strong intense wines with lots of bite and lovely fruit levels.
Pena de Pato, Dao, Portugal 18.95
Portugese wine is the new kid on the block and this wine is all that you think it isn't going to be. Full bodied and delicious, with really vibrant potential.
Le Croisade Merlot, Languedoc, France 2.95 17.50
Great value French Merlot, full bodied yet soft with a fruity nose. This will delight you with its plummy aromas and lingering finish.

Cinnamon spice, blackberry fruit with hints of wood. From one of the best vineyards in the Montpellier region.

A medium -bodied, off-dry, juicy South African red with a lingering aftertaste.
Smooth and Earthy
Domaine St Eugene Cab/Merlot, Vin de Pays, France 2.90 16.75
Dark garnet red with power and concentration, coupled with good French structure.
Gigondas, Domaine de Font Sane 2002, Southern Rhone 32.50
Opulent, perfumed violets precedes a solid tannic frame and intense, dark, rich, voluptuous fruit.
Chateau Jeandeman, Grand Vin de Bordeaux, France 27.95
A real touch of class - it sounds posh and tastes posher - the ripe Merlot and Cabernet fruit is softened by the gentle vanilla from the oak barriques: a supple and mellow wine.

A top notch Spanish red with lots of soft fruit and a touch of oak - Rioja in all but name.
Chateau David, Bordeaux 23.50
Much inexpensive Bordeaux can be dried out, hollow and dusty, but not this juicy, rounded little number which displays a proper, grown-up farmyard character.

The Pomerol of the southern hemisphere, with up-front black fruits and fully matured tannins.

A velvet smooth, classic Rioja with bags of old-fashioned noble oak, spices and vanilla.

An entry level Bordeaux. Just open the bottle and start loving what the French do best.
Lar de Lares Reserve Crianza, Spain 28.00
18 months in American oak, then 24 months in the bottle before we can even see it. This makes for a wine that has rich complexity and textures that are to savour.
Chateauneuf- du-Pape, Chateau Saint-Roch, France 35.00
Full bodied and well balanced with smooth tanins and good length. This wine has all the right credentials and does the business every time.
Rich and Plummy
Los Vilos Cabernet Sauvignon, Chile 2.90 16.45
A dash of Merlot smooths out the agressive tendencies of the fruity Cabernet grape, ringing with it a certain richness and a rounded finish.
Purisma Merlot, Chile 21.50
Top end Merlot in full cry - soft and smooth, with rich, soft tannins and a long finish.
Canonbah Bridge Drought Reserve Shiraz, Australia 28.95
They call it drought Shiraz as heat is high, so grapes are smaller, intensifying the flavour and colour of the wine. This is a limited release of an exceptional wine that is reminiscent of liquorice when eating it. Oops, I meant drinking it..
Paternina Monte Haro Rioja, Spain 3.00 17.50
Ripe cherry red colour with intense aromas. An all round full flavoured well structured Rioja. .
Campioleti Valpolicella. Italy 23.95
A superb, top quality wine over flowing with red berry fruits. Fermented over the lees of their Amarone offers an incredibly rich and fruity style.
Dark and Satanic
Cotes du Rhone Village, Mas de Libian, Khayyam, France 32.50
A classy Rhone wine bursting with blackcurrant and blueberries and just a hint of spice. Full bodied, yet well balanced and oozing finesse.
Sierra Cantabria Cuvée Especial, Rioja, Spain 39.95
Deep red with deep bouquets, a wine that just takes you to a higher plain, with each loving sip revealing another interesting layer of a really classy wine.
Barolo Ciabot Berton, Italy 43.95
'The king of wines- the wine of kings' (G Arathoon). From the Piedmont region of Italy lives a little grape called the Nebbiolo. This little grape makes heavy but smooth wine.
