A handsome wine with opulent, perfumed violets preceeding a solid tannic frame and intense dark fruit.

Glossy raspberries in abundance, with a pinch of pepper in the finish. This has a complexity that tempts you back again and again.
Marque de Borba - Portugal £24.50
This wine is made from local grape varieties. With ripe and rounded jammy fruit flavours, this is smooth with soft tannins.
La Baume Merlot - France £3.40 £18.95
This bronze award winner is something of a treat. It is well rounded and fruity with spicy blackcurrant flavours.
Torre Abalde - Tempranillo- Spain £3.20 £17.95
Typical rich berry flavours with ripe and robust tannins and a long well balanced finish. It's a bit of a baby Rioja.

Dark and Satanic
Amarone Zenato - Italy- 2005 £46.00
The king of Veronese wines, ruby red with a deep bouquet of smoky chocolate, a rich spicy palate and subtle tannins.
Massaya - Lebanon £36.00
This wine comes from the hot-baked red earth of the Bekka valley in Lebanon. It's a blend of three classic grapes that makes for an intense experience.
Canonbah Bridge Drought Shiraz - Australia- 2004 £36.00
Intense flavours of velvety chocolate characteristics - an absolute dream.
Valpolicella Rippasso - Italy- 2006 £31.50
A top notch Italian red, a proper Christmas cake of a wine. Full and rich with dark fruit and marzipan on the nose.
