Aberfeldy 12 year old - 40% Sweet, malty, a gentle peat but nonetheless the mouth feel is very clean. £4.50
Aberlour 10 year old - 40% Quite full-bodied, spicy rich fruitcake, toffee notes and a creamy malty-feel. Caramel and honey finish with malt still evident and lingering sweet spice. £3.50
Dalmore 12 year old - 40% Rum butter nose with malt loaf on a light peat heath. £4.50
Glenmorangie 10 year old - 40% Sandalwood with a whiff of the sea, spicy, buttery, long and rounded. £3.50
Highland Park 12 year old - 40% Rather full with a pleasant depth. Lurking somewhere in the substratum a grilled orange lies. Notes of granary toast and green tea with jasmine. A touch of sweetness. £3.80
Oban 14 year old - 40% Slightly salty but with a smooth finish and a butter toffee aftertaste. £5.00
Talisker 10 year old - 45.8% Full bodied with huge plumes of smoke and volcanic, peppery peat. Intense. £3.80
Springbank 15 year old - 46% There is a richness to the peat, with a dark nuttiness and whirling smoke. Full-bodied with a good helping of cereal sweetness. £6.50
Speyside
Aberlour 10 year old - 40% Sweet nutmeg spice with a peppery dryness. A flavoursome oxymoron. £3.50
Cragganmore 12 year old - 40% A complex malty aroma backed by restrained herbs and flowers. £3.70
Glenfarclas 15 year old - 46% Amber with sherry and malt and a touch of smoke. Long and smooth. £6.00
Balvennie Double Wood 12 Year Old Gentle spice with a little vanilla, a hint of balancing peat lurking quietly in the substrata. Dried fruit combining with nuts, nutmeg, cinnamon, then into the bourbon notes - so well integrated. £3.75
Glenfiddich 12 yr/old - 40% Light, floral spices. Very smooth with a sweet, touch of oak and a fruit driven, oily finish. £4.00
Glenlivet Founders Reserve - 40% Fruity, then sweet, toffee, a touch of anise, then into milk chocolate flakes, banoffee pie and apple turnovers. £3.50
Macallan Gold - 40% Citrus and boiled sweets rule the palate, along with hints of ginger and cinnamon, while soft oak tones reveal toasted apples. £4.00
Tamdhu 10 Year Old - 40% Soft red fruit followed by brown sugar and spicy clove. A touch of chocolate-covered Brazil nut. £5.00
Islay and Island Whisky
Ardbeg 10 year old - 46% Smoke and brine nose, medium body, sweetness going to salt. £4.50
Bowmore 12 year old - 40% Pears soaked in honey, smoked over peat with dark chocolate. £4.00
Lagavulin 16 year old - 43% One of the smokiest noses from Islay. Sweet spices, mature sherry and creamy vanilla. £6.00
Bruichladdich Octomore - 57% Peat, peat and more peat. Wow. £11.50
Isle of Jura Superstition - 43% A cereal fest on the tongue, with hints of white pepper and black forest honey with hot buttered toast. Light and oily. £4.00
Laphroaig Triple Wood - 48% Dry and medicinal, with exotic spices, perhaps even some turmeric. Think musty wood sheds and hints of moist autumnal forest floor. £5.50
Scapa Skiren - 40% Warmth and richness. Sparks of juicy pear and lemon peel. Touches of oak develop further on, bringing some balancing spice. £4.50
Talisker 10 year old - 45.8% It's a bonfire of peat crackling with black pepper, with a touch of brine and dry barley. A welcome delivery of orchard fruit provides a delicate and beautiful balance. £3.80
Lowlands
Auchentoshan Three Wood - 43% Bursts of citrus, the signature nuttiness and green leafiness with smooth and sweet hints of tangerine and lime accompanied by thick dark treacle, toffee notes and chewy wooded notes. £4.50
Aisla Bay Single Malt - 48.9% Undoubtedly meaty 'n' peaty! Chalky cereal and golden syrup with hints of custard and some phenolic ash. A sweet, smoky finish. Intense. £6.25
Glenkinchie 12 Year Old - 43% Light, yet fragrant. Notes of fresh cereal and grist, some barley sweetness and a nuts. Acacia honey creeps in with gentle warmth. The palate is very fruity with notes of Madeira, sweet stewed fruits. £4.50
Blended Scotch
Haig Dimple 15 year old - 43% Identified by its uniquely shaped bottle, 15 years of aging have left this whisky rich, smooth and complex on the palate. £4.20
Johnnie Walker Black Label - 40% A rich and full 12yo blended whisky with notes of wood smoke and dry spice. £3.20
Monkey Shoulder - 40% Batch 27, smooth and rich, a blend of three Speyside malts. £2.80
Johnnie Walker Swing - 40% Sweet wild honey smeared on dark toast. Light sherry notes (think dark red fruit) make an appearance before a transition to spiced vanilla and butterscotch. £5.50
Ballantine's Finest - 40% Rich and sweet. Barley and caramel, very gentle peat. £2.80
Chivas Regal 12 Year Old - 40% A creamy, aromatic melange of vanilla custard, hints of aniseed, lemon curd and butter toffee. Wood shavings and dried banana chips develop with just a hint of cassis £3.50
Indian & Japanese Whiskey
Akashi White Oak Single Malt - 46% Smooth with lots of yellow apple, powder sugar, angelica fruits with hints of sea air.” £5.00
Hibiki Japanese Harmony - 43% Oranges and apricots in abundance, a little peppery spice, then the soft, succulent fruit takes hold. Nice balance, and nicely crafted. £6.50
The Yamazaki Distiller's Reserve - 43% Classic Yamazaki strawberries and dried fruits with floral notes coming from the Mizunara cask. Fragrant sandalwood and coconut. Certainly a whisky where you could get lost in its nose! £7.45
Nikka Whisky From The Barrel - 51.4% Full-bodied and punchy. There is plenty of winter spice and toffee, a little caramel and vanilla and a good mouthful of fruit. £4.50
Nikka Taketsuru Pure Malt - 43% Sherry-soaked plums, raisins and green apple slices. Honey'd cereal, black pepper and a hint of barrel char. £6.35
Amrut Single Malt Whisky (46% Intense barley and grain. Nutty, citrus and apricot flavours develop. £5.20
Paul John Bold - 46% Honeyed oak and fruity coffee with that Islay peat again making its character gently known. Spicy porridge, lime and dry toast. £4.65
Rampur Single Malt - 43% Tropical fruits, rich vanilla, apple and a touch of pepper. £5.75
Irish, Welsh and English Whisky and Whiskey
Penderyn Welsh Whisky - 46% Sweet, medium body. Herbal, vanilla, resin, sultanas, toast, over-ripe grape. Thick and sweet spices, biscuit and custard with subtle hints of stem ginger. £3.50
Bushmills 10 Year Old - 40% Medium body, very fruity, chocolate pudding with a floral and tannic finish £3.50
Jamesons Irish Whiskey - 40% Thick and of good body with notes of orchard fruits, both fresh and cooked with a little vanilla cream. £2.90
Kilbeggan - 40% The nose is smooth and gentle with nut oils, hazelnut and barley, cereal sweetness and a little peat. The palate is of good body with honeyed sweetness and malt. The finish is short with oaked dryness. £2.90
Tullamore Dew 12 Year Old Special Reserve - 40% Scones with clotted cream and vinous strawberry jam, sultanas, dates and digestive biscuits. Linseed and honey with a medium length finish and a hint of oaky/nutty bittersweetness. £3.00
Tyrconnell Irish Whiskey - 43% Melted butter, honeyed cereal and a touch of orange pith. Rich vanilla and soft fudge, with a touch of granary toast underneath. Lingering nutmeg spiced finish and a touch of drying oak. £3.50
American and Canadian Rye and Bourbon Whiskey
Bulleit Bourbon - 45% Warming winter spices and a hint of tobacco leaf make it smooth and spicy. £3.50
Elijah Craig 12 year old - 46% Stone fruit; coconut, vanilla, char - it's all there; complex, balanced classy whiskey. £4.00
Gentleman Jack - 40% A premium version of Jack Daniel's Tennessee whiskey, good enough to enjoy on its own. £4.00
Willets Pot Still Reserve - 47% This warming little number comes in a pot still shaped bottle. Buttery corn, with a little caramel later on. £6.00
Woodford Reserve - 43.2% Unusual for being triple distilled and having the lowest proof upon entering the barrel where it matures for at least six years. £3.50
Knob Creek Kentucky Straight Bourbon - 50% Peppy and full. Notes of candy floss and nut oil, a touch of spice and dark chocolate, a little spice and charred oak. £3.50
Maker's Mark - 45% Fruity and rich. There are lovely notes of spiced honey and mixed peels, a little malmsey, hazelnut and a touch of cut fruit with toasty oak providing a backbone. £3.50
Fighting Cock - 51.5% Molasses, Demerara sugar and cereal sweetness. Becomes rich with butterscotch and cedar. £4.10
Eagle Rare 10 Year Old 45% Honey, buttered bread, oily walnuts and a touch of red fruit. £4.25
Jack Daniel's Single Barrel - 45% Full and mouth-filling. There are notes of cereal sweetness, the rye is in evidence with a touch of cigar box and nut oils. A little spice and an aniseed character to finish. £5.00
Jack Daniel's Tennessee Honey 35% Thick and creamy with notes of vanilla, toasty oak, honey and apricot. £3.00
Jim Beam Rye - 40% The spice delivery is not immediate; First there's a brief caramel vanilla note before it plunges you in, then the nutmeg, cloves and freshly-ground black pepper. It's clearly going to pack a punch! £3.00
