B&P took on (and conquered!) the Snowdon 6 Challenge
Last year 48 crew members from 20 different B&P pubs up and down the country, and a good showing from the Central Support Team, attempted to scale Snowdon 3 times in a day. Despite getting to within a couple of hundred metres of the top, the team was beaten back by dreadful weather conditions meaning it wasn't safe to summit. So this year, as for many it’s was a scratch that still needed itching, they had a rematch...
After a 2.30am start followed by 18 hours spent making 3 ascents and 3 descents on 3 different routes (that’s 28 miles and over 9000ft climbed) they did it! The Snowdon 6 Challenge can now be ticked off the list.
Well done to the 42 B&P crew members from across the country who took part.
This year we decided to ask for sponsorship which encouraged the team on their way. The sponsorship was split across two amazing charities:
Cardiac Risk in the Young (C-R-Y)
Last year we sadly lost our much-loved Chef and friend Tizz to an undetected heart complaint. C-R-Y is a charity that is trying to prevent young sudden cardiac deaths through awareness, screening and research, supporting affected families along the way.
Each week at least twelve young people in the UK die suddenly as a result of undiagnosed heart conditions. Cardiac Risk In the Young aim to save young lives and to help those affected by sudden cardiac death. They do this by providing support, information and screening those affected.
Mountain Rescue England and Wales
There are 49 volunteer mountain rescue teams across England and Wales, providing emergency care, free of charge to those who need it and support to their local communities in times of crisis, such as flooding. Mountain Rescue are a fantastic charity that allow us all to enjoy the beautiful wild areas of England and Wales and considering our challenge, we feel it’s the very least we can do to choose them as one of our chosen charities.
We have raised over £7000 so far. Thank you to everyone for your support.
