Welcome
The first thing that strikes people as they walk through the door is the great jumble of old beams everywhere, and the water wheel turning slowly behind the bar. The decks outside are built directly over the mill race and the rapids, and on the opposite bank of the river, steam trains arrive and leave from the restored station. Mountains and hills rise all around, and the smell of ozone fills the air – it’s a guaranteed hangover cure.
Llangollen is a seriously active place for a small community - in July there is the International Eisteddfod, a massive music festival where choirs from some fifty different countries compete; there is an accompanying Fringe festival based in the theatre behind the Corn Mill; there are hot air balloon festivals and jazz festivals, food weeks and international canoeing competitions... and a great pub on the river.
