Deputy Manager

Salary package from £25,000 to £30,000 per annum plus tips and company benefits

We are looking for an experienced Deputy Manager to join the crew at the Pheasant at Buckland.

As Deputy you won't carry the full weight of responsibility but you’ll be helping to run a substantial business and will be the manager's right-hand person - making decisions and directing things on a daily basis.  

The role is very hands-on and extremely varied encompassing people management, food and drink, customer service, pub maintenance and day to day financial administration. 
As well as helping to select wines and beers, you’ll join in with menu development with the chef team and above all, be recognised as a natural, charismatic and friendly host with a big front of house character who genuinely enjoys looking after people and providing great service. 

We need someone who has a real eye for the detail together with management experience in a similar pub or restaurant environment.  You’ll need to have a strong passion for, and sound knowledge of, quality food, menu development, cask ales, beers, wines and spirits.

Our service style is informal and friendly and so on a personal note, we look for confident and outgoing individuals with a great sense of humour and the ability to help build, lead and inspire a successful team.

The Pheasant is a country pub at heart, so have focused a great deal of attention and love in creating what will be a beautiful garden and terrace overlooking the fields behind. Our fires are stoked and add to the comfy feeling within and our new garden room is perfect to dine in. The bar is at the heart of the building with six cask ales on tap, an extensive wine list and a fine spirit selection. Our seasonal menus include high quality, freshly cooked classic British dishes complemented by some more exotic influences from around the world.

As a Deputy or Assistant Manager we’ll reward you with a starting salary package up to £30,000 per annum and you’ll be part of a successful, growing company who have been awarded Pub Group of the Year on many occasions.

Chef de Partie

Salary from £18,000 to £24,000 per annum plus paid overtime and company benefits

We are looking for experienced Chefs de Partie and Senior Chefs de Partie to join the crew at the Pheasant at Buckland.

Our Chefs de Partie undertake key roles in the kitchen and we’re looking for people with good cooking skills and experience of working in a busy, fresh food environment. 

You’ll have the opportunity to gain experience working across all areas of the kitchen and will generally be given responsibility to look after a particular section with the help of other chefs.  On a daily basis you’ll be supporting the Sous Chefs and Head Chef in a range of duties including fresh food preparation and cooking as well as undertaking kitchen management duties including ordering, stock control and ensuring food safety and cleaning standards are met. 

As part of the team, you’ll help develop seasonal menus with a spine of freshly prepared, classic British dishes, complemented by more exotic influences from other parts of the world – in other words, modern British cookery.

Creating a happy working atmosphere is vital to the successful running of the kitchens and comes high on our agenda and so your contribution to creating a friendly and supportive working environment is crucial.

The potential here is enormous and we’re looking for ambitious, creative and committed chefs with a passion for good food who are ready to take the next step in their career. Depending on your experience, as a Chef de Partie or Senior Chef de Partie, we’ll reward you with a starting salary package up to £24,000 per annum.  Our rate of growth means that there are exciting opportunities springing up all the time and we always try to promote from within when we can which means this is an excellent stepping stone on the road to developing a rewarding career as a professional chef.
