Sous Chef

Salary package around £28,000 - £30,000 plus tips and company benefits. 

We are now looking for an experienced Sous Chef to join us and help strengthen the team. You will have excellent cooking skills, experience in helping to set and achieve GP percentages and the ability to manage high volumes with the right standards of quality and consistency.

Together with the Head Chef you will help write the menus, assist in sourcing ingredients from the best suppliers and set and maintain the highest standards of food quality and consistency.

You’ll also need to efficiently run service in the Head Chef’s absence and so your kitchen management and organisational skills will be of paramount importance. This is a vital role in the pub and is an excellent stepping stone on the road to managing your own kitchen.

As a Sous Chef we’ll reward you with a salary package around £28,000 - £30,000 and you’ll be part of a successful, growing company who have been awarded Pub Group of the Year on five occasions.

Our menu has a spine of freshly prepared, classic British dishes, complemented by more exotic influences from other parts of the world: in other words, modern British cookery.  Our passion lies in finding quality ingredients and preparing, cooking and presenting them in a modern but unpretentious way.

Chef de Partie

£19,500 for 45 hours per week plus paid overtime, tips and company benefits. 

The Old Windmill is looking for an experienced Chef de Partie to help set the highest standards of food quality and consistency. This is a busy working environment, and as well as having high standards and demonstrating good attention to detail, you’ll help the crew set the bar high in terms of cooking delicious dishes, maintaining effective kitchen controls and adhering to excellent standards of health and hygiene.
Our Chefs de Partie have the opportunity to gain experience working across all areas of the kitchen and will generally be given responsibility to look after a particular section with the help of other chefs.
On a daily basis you’ll be supporting the Sous Chefs and Head Chef in a range of duties including fresh food preparation and cooking as well as undertaking kitchen management duties including ordering, stock control and ensuring food safety and cleaning standards are met. We encourage all our chefs to embrace our food culture and take part in menu development changes so you’ll have the chance to submit your own ideas for new dishes on the menu.
This is a key role in the kitchen and we’re looking for people with good cooking skills and experience of working in a busy kitchen in a fresh food environment. Creating a happy working atmosphere is vital to the successful running of the kitchens and comes high on our agenda and so your contribution to creating a friendly and supportive working environment is crucial.

Kitchen Porter

£7.50 - £8.00 plus tips and company benefits

We’re looking for experienced Kitchen Porters to work alongside our team of chefs during our particularly busy times – evenings, weekends and lunchtimes.

Duties will be varied and will include helping to keep the kitchen clean, operate the dishwasher, hand dish washing and some basic food preparation.
