The Grand Canal Challenge and 1st Old Orchard Ale and Cider Festival
The marquee is down, the beer and cider is drunk, the contestants are well and truly over the finishing line, so it's time to close the curtain on the 1st Grand Canal Challenge and the Old Orchard Ale and Cider Festival. Thank you so much for all those involved, your support made the event a great success. 2,400 pints of beer and 800 pints of cider were enjoyed over the two days. Harry Enfield came along. One contestant fell in the canal, but recovered to be the first to finish! The Marshalls did the 26 miles by narrow boat and we even had a canoeist, who managed 13 miles! The final group took over 12 hours, crawling over the finishing line just before 10pm. We had lots of live music and a bit of sunshine here and there!
