History

Aimee

Manager

Aimee studied Costume at uni going on to work on shows such as The Lion King and The Olympics. After a few years she was lured away to pub life, swapping fixing costumes for pulling pints. Aimee joined B&P six years ago starting out behind the bar and quickly realised being part of the Brunning and Price family was where she wanted to be. A keen hiker in her spare time, she loves nothing more than being outdoors, climbing mountains but always finishing with a nice glass of wine in a good pub. It sounds like her change in career path was a perfect fit.

Hannah

Deputy Manager

Hannah moved up North from Cheshire 4 years ago to work in the Lake District. Lucky for us she met her future fiancÃ© Thom and moved just up the road from the Highwayman where she became the perfect fit for our pub family. A spa enthusiast Hannah loves spending her spare time relaxing and getting pampered (who can blame her!) as well as spending time with Thom and their dogs Riley and Millie. She loves half a pint of cider but the real way to her heart is through a glass of Chilean Sauvignon and a plate of Staffordshire Oatcakes (with cheese, bacon and ketchup).

Adam

Deputy Manager

Adam joined us at the Highwayman in September 23 and we couldn't be happier to have him here. From just up the road in Kendal, Adam joined us from the glamorous world of hotels having previous worked at Castle Green and Lakeside Hotel. He is our bar/cellar guru and finds all the exciting products that come to the bar and brings a great passion for all things beer. A keen lover of all things fancy dress, Adam loves any reason to throw on a hilarious costume at our events! In his spare time he loves nothing more than a delicious crisp lager in the sunshine with family and friends .

Philippa

Deputy Manager

Philippa has been friends of the Highwayman for years with her parents living in the village and in November 23 she finally said yes to joining us here as a Deputy Manager and we couldn't of been happier! Super organised, creative, passionate and our event guru (you should of seen her wedding!) she has so many things planned for the pub. When Pip isn't filling our days with laughter, fun and events she loves nothing more than jetting off on adventures with her husband James, trying the next must try restaurant and sipping on a delicious tequila and pineapple juice or an ice cold glass of wine .

Daisy

Assistant Manager

Daisy Mae joined us back when we opened in 2018 when she was 16. She soon discovered that the B&P life was for her and joined us full time last year and is quickly moving up the ranks. Full of fun and laughter Daisy keeps this teams spirits up throughout the day and loves spending time working with her best friend Liam. When she is not busy in the pub you will find her on adventures around the North West, playing bingo or enjoying a glass of New Zealand Sauvignon on the other side of the bar.

Sinead

Supervisor

Sinead is an absolute trooper and is also a local girl who's 'born and bred' in the area. A horse and general animal fanatic, if you need any interesting facts on the like, she's your go to girl! An ever present you're almost guaranteed to see this 'lunchtime legend' if you pop in from a nice brisk walk.

Kitchen

Richard

Head Chef

A Staffordshire chap and confirmed family man with two lovely children, Richard got a feel for the local pub culture by running a kitchen or two before doing his graft at Piccolinos in Manchester... a scoop for us then. A bit of a Gun's n Roses nut with an appetite 'for food' rather than for 'destruction'. A keen Mountain climber Rich has completed more UK Mountains than we could count and knows the fells like the back of his hands. He loves collecting trainers and partial to a rum or two when relaxing away from his busy kitchen.

Lee

Senior Sous Chef

Having spent many years working at top restaurants in Edinburgh, Lee first came to us here at the Highwayman back in 2019 when he was an agency chef and immediately became part of the pub family. A couple of years later Lee joined the team officially and we can't imagine our kitchen team without him. Outside work Lee's passions are music, football and space and will happily chat to you for hours about the three over a pint of Peroni at the bar.

Jacob

Sous Chef

Jacob also lovingly known as Tayto or JK joined us back in 2019 from one of our sister pubs, the Clog and Billycock and quickly became a well loved member of the team. He always has a smile on his face even in our busy kitchen and nothing is ever too much trouble for him. A proper film buff JK loves watching films in his spare time, particularly horror and after work you will usually find him at the other-side of the bar relaxing with a well earned pint of cider!

Natalie

Cleaner

Natalie is a super speedy cleaner who used to be a dancer. She can often be seen combining the two, with an effortless salsa whilst polishing tables. She has two lovely girls with the head chef Richard and in her spare time she loves nothing more than to do a few drawings to relax!
