- Our other pubs
Staff
Front of house
Samantha Forrest
Manager
Sam originally wandered through the doors at the Armoury way back when, looking for casual work, but after a bit gave up her job working for the National Trust to join us full time, to the detriment of our national heritage. She had been the deputy manager at the Fox since the opening, before ascending to the throne in September 2007 - another story like Lindsey at the Pant, who also joined as a part-timer and ended up running the show. Sam collects cats, which doesn't bode well for the future.
Moira Bentley
Deputy Manager
Moira, aka MooMoo, has a star-studded past having been the previous manager of the Three Fishes – the pub’s previous incarnation. Occasionally, especially with the addition of red wine, she comes over all Cilla Black, and is one of the few human beings who comes with a Noise Abatement Order tattood to her forehead.
Jon Sabin
Deputy Manager
Jon is Shrewsbury born and has been involved in the catering trade for over a decade, despite his youthful facade. He has a warm and engaging manner, a bit like your favourite uncle, but still remains an inveterate clubber and is working his way through a list of adventurous outdoor sports, like…er..golf.
Charlotte Ward
Assistant Manager
Charlie started as part time front of house in 2006, but decided to take the Fox shilling full time in 2007, giving up juggling three child minding jobs, which must have been a real wrench. She is no stranger to the pub game, having been assistant manager at her local village pub, and is a real contender with Moira in the noisy stakes, having the loudest, dirtiest laugh in the world.
Daniel Bentley
Bar/Cellar person
Son of Moira, Daniel started at the Fox in 2005 as a KP, then went on to cheffing, with a little front of house thrown in for good measure. He left us for 12 months to work at a local farm shop but saw the error of his ways and returned to take up a full time front of house contract in 2008. Apparently, word has it that Dan takes more time getting ready to go out than his girlfriend – which she is happy to confirm. Interests? Cars of course.
Jodie Austin
Bar/Waiting Staff
Podie (Pocket Jodie) used to work at the Last Inn so isn’t exactly new to the trade. She is horsetastic, spending all her spare time looking after at least three, including her own, getting up at no o’clock in the morning. Her poison is Stella - halves generally, though they look like pints in her Podie hands.
Jade Allcock
Bar/Waiting Staff
Jade was previously in events management, and is the Fox's self-appointed animal welfare officer with a soft spot for the various waifs and strays that wash up on the Fox's foreshore. Jade is a bit of an artist on the quiet, and shares with Sam a passion for shoes: she has a vast collection.
Kitchen
Andrew Warters
Head Chef
Andy heads up the chef team, having led the Corn Mill kitchens for several years, so is used to extreme catering. After the somewhat intimate arrangements at the Corn Mill, the new kitchens at the Fox are to Andy like the wide open plains of the Serengeti to a wildebeest - you'll often find him wandering around aimlessly, chewing the cud.
Craig Wakenell
Sous Chef
Craig is the steadiest Eddy you’re likely to meet, which is of great reassurance in the turbulent waters that are a busy kitchen. He came to us from seven and a half years at the Valley Hotel in Ironbridge, which in chef years is like twenty years in a normal job. Craig is a keen Spurs supporter and a great dog walker, which is where he gets his rosy cheeks.
Stacey Stonier
Sous Chef
Stacey joined the kitchen ranks this year having previously worked at the Inn at Grinshill nr. Shrewsbury, and the Haden House hotel before that, although he’s been in whites pretty much all his working life. He’s a Stoke boy born and bred, with a passion for motor bikes and his pet dog.
Emma Bryant
Senior Chef de Partie
Em hails from Wulva-Rampton, having worked in Chicago and le Petit Blanc. She claims to have almost drowned three times (so don’t ever go sailing with her) and nearly bled to death just the once. Em would like to have been a dentist but alas the family tradition is cheffing so here she is. She is extremely sensitive to caffeine and is allergic to penicillin. One large espresso with a penicillin top, please.
Greg O Neil
Chef de Partie
Greg has worked in an assortment of chef jobs around the Telford area before joining the Fox team. He hales from Wolverhampton and like most boys his age, loves his car and the odd beer or twenty. His favourite colour is pink. No, really – his favourite colour is pink.
Adam Workman
Chef de Partie
Adam studied sports science at college, but cheffing is in his blood (his Dad is Head Chef at The Valley Hotel, Ironbridge), so he decided to dabble a toe in the family gene pool and try on the whites for size. Adam had a brief interlude as a chef elsewhere, before being head hunted by Craig. He is into all the usual things for a boy of his age: sport, music, cars and girls.
Arthur Radcliffe
Kitchen Porter
Arthur is one of the backroom wizards who stoke the engines of the pub and keep the ship moving along. Named after a medieval king, he is a legend in his own right.
