Marston’s Burton Bitter is a veteran amongst British ales. Born in Burton-on-Trent - the shrine to British ale- when John Marston founded his brewery in 1834, it has waved bon voyage to several erstwhile contemporaries and today is the senior citizen of the huge Marston’s PLC empire.
English malt and hops mix with Burton liquor, the famous spring water taken from gypsum beds under the brewery. Traces of sulphates supply distinctive sulphurous notes to the singular aroma known as ‘the Burton Snatch’.
Slightly sweet and fruity at first, this copper coloured ale delivers a malty biscuit flavour with a gentle hoppiness in the finish. Burton Bitter is a very easy drinking pint to tackle anything from a quick thirst quencher to a few pints with the lads (or lasses) or a glass of choice with your fish and chips.
