Links - Fish
These pages feature a number of websites that we've come across over the years or that have been recommended, and that we think might interest our customers and crew - the foodie sites are geared up to serve the domestic market, so we use them personally rather than as a business.
If you've found any good sites that you think would sit well here, do please send us a link and we'll have a look at it.
By the way, if you happen to find any links have stopped working please report them to webmaster@brunninngandprice.co.uk.
Fish
Dead Fresh Fish

What a great name for a company. Approximately 90% of the fish supplied by Dead Fresh Fish is what is called Dayboat Fish. This term describes fish which has only been on board the fishing vessel for one day, as opposed to trawled fish, which can be caught and stored on board the trawler for up to ten days. All the fish has been bought at Brixham Fish Market in Devon, the orders are iced and packed in polysterene boxes, then sealed and transported overnight. There is a full on-line ordering and payment facility.
Isle of Skye Seafood

This company promises premium quality seafood freshly caught by local fisherman from the seas around Scotland's Isle of Skye. In addition to fresh fish, Isle of Skye Seafood supplies lobster, crab, scallops, prawns, mussels, oysters and organic salmon. Their Smokehouse supplies smoked wild salmon, smoked salmon, kippers, haddock, monk and eel.
Martin’s Seafresh

If you can’t catch it yourself, by all accounts you’ve found the next best thing - a Cornish fisherman selling fresh fish direct by mail order, with next-day delivery. They also sell live lobsters, crabs, mussels and oysters, which come from the Duchy Oyster Farm at Port Navas or the Fowey Sea Farm, as well as Native Oysters from the Falmouth Estuary, dredged by traditional sailing boats.
The Fish Society

The bees knees for all things fishy, the Fish Society stock some 200 different varieties of fish, including fifteen types of prawny beasts alone, from 9-inch whoppers to hand-peeled Morecombe Bay shrimps. You’ll find lots of foodie porn like sushi, salt cod, jellied eels, smoked anchovies and air-dried tuna. Most fish have been blast-frozen, which we are reassured often means they end up ‘fresher’ than fish that’s been sitting on a fishmonger’s slab for a couple of days.
Thornham Oysters

Thornham Rock Oysters are grown in the natural salt marsh creeks that meander from the North Sea into Thornham Harbour. When the oysters reach maturity they are hand-picked and brought ashore for cleaning and grading before being purified by UV treatment. On-line ordering is on its way, but in the meantime you can download an order form and post it off, or place an order by phone. Orders received by 10am Monday to Thursday are despatched for next day delivery within the UK.
