Links - General Interest
These pages feature a number of websites that we've come across over the years or that have been recommended, and that we think might interest our customers and crew - the foodie sites are geared up to serve the domestic market, so we use them personally rather than as a business.
If you've found any good sites that you think would sit well here, do please send us a link and we'll have a look at it.
By the way, if you happen to find any links have stopped working please report them to webmaster@brunninngandprice.co.uk.
General Interest
BBC Webguide

The whole web world under your fingertip - this is BBC's collation of the best non-BBC websites, including sections on Gardening, Food, Travel, Eductaion, Science, Music, Films, Nature, History, Art, Weather, and much more - and each section subdivides, so get clicking.
Campaign for Real ale (CAMRA)

Camra publish the Good Beer Guide, and must take substantial credit for helping to save cask conditioned ales from the ravages of the big breweries who were intent on closing down small independent breweries and forcing homogenised, pasteurised keg products across the country. Get the picture?
This is a good reference site for finding details of beer festivals across the UK, and other bits and bobs, but you won’t find any beer reviews here. See Dave's beer page instead.
Caterer.com

This is a good site for catering careers - they usually have some 12,000+ jobs advertised, and we use it to advertise our own job vacancies.
Cleaning stains

Everyone will need this site at some time, even if its only to clean hair-spray stains from a curling iron, or acne medication from carpets. You'll never believe how many different stains there are.
Fish4

A massive all-purpose search site if you are looking for a job (35,000 at the time of writing), a car (183,000 at the time of writing), or a house to buy or rent (244,400 at the time of writing).
Llangollen Eisteddfod

If you’ve never been to the Eistedfod in Llangollen, give yourself a treat - it really is something special. How a relatively small community in North Wales has generated such an event is a marvel - even Pavarotti has sung here in previous years, but it is the breadth and scale of the event that stuns - competitors from some 50 countries come and perform, and the atmosphere in the town is just electric.
Llangollen Fringe Festival

In conjunction with the International Eisteddfod, some of the spicier elements in Llangollen have developed a lively and fun-filled fringe festival, with bands from Bulgaria, Sweden and Senegal, comedy, political debate, photography and art exhibitions, all based in the Fringe Shed (next to the Corn Mill), which they carpet with living turf for the duration of the festival.
Llangollen Steam trains

Yet more evidence of what a dynamic community Llangollen is - the rail tracks have been saved after branch-line closures and have become a volunteer-run fully-functioning steam railway running trips along the valley. The station, on the opposite bank of the river to the Corn Mill, has recently been fully refurbished, and you can access details of the train timetable from this site.
New Scientist

Hundreds and hundreds of weblinks to all things scientific - from oceanography to chaos theory, neuroscience to forensics, this is really easy to navigate and it's not all serious stuff (Zombies on the Web, anyone, or Stone Liquifaction?). Each weblink has a comprehensive review attached. If you can't find it here, it can't be found.
The AA

Great for finding accommodation at all levels: this site lists 8,000 paces to stay around Britain, from good B & Bs to five star hotels, as well as restaurants and pubs.
The CIA

Boy oh boy you'll have fun with this one - it leads everywhere, as they say. Read up on how America (or the CIA anyway) views the rest of the world - the United Kingdom, for instance, is described as being "slightly smaller than Oregon". The wealth of information is staggering, and will keep you busy for weeks, or years.
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office

The site of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, with loads of interesting things, including profiles of countries, travel advice, addresses of embassies worldwide, government policies etc etc.
Theatre Clwyd, Mold

Although this is a bit of a clonkey old site, it is possible to find out details of what’s on at Theatre Clwyd, although actually booking tickets can be problematic. Nevertheless, it’s worth persevering as there are some wonderful things that are well worth exploring - as well as theatre there is music, film and ongoing art exhibitions, and there are a lot of community activities and workshops. The theatre is just over the road from Glasfryn.
