Company Days Out - Golf Day 2003

We held our fifth annual Golf Day on September 10th at the Clay’s Farm Golf Club, Wrexham. 34 hackers lined up after coffee and bacon butties - and a pre-match sharpener of lager for the bad lads.

Darren giving it large at the off Barker tees off at the first with the yellow ball - and promptly loses it

The weather was a bit dodgy at first, and then got grimmer, but no-one seemed to mind.
There were a number of prizes up for grabs - the best front nine, the best back nine, the best overall, the longest drive, the nearest the hole on a par three, and a ‘get the yellow ball round without losing it’ (Barker lost his on his first strike - he he.).

Dave Harding had done the handicapping, but a few bandits crept in under the wire, most notably Rich Swift of Glasfryn playing off a 28 - not so much a bandit as a cattle-thieving, rape-and-pillaging, highjacking bastard pirate. Adam from Grosvenor was playing off a 4 and driving sweetly, and Sarah was plainly a class act. Heugo got the best-dressed award for his sky-blue cords, red socks and Compo hat.

We buzzed over to the Pant for an excellent supper and scoops, and had a great evening all round. Thanks to Dave for putting the whole day together, and to David Larvin of Clays Golf Club, who looked after us famously - everyone loved the course.
