    An Italian blend crisp light and immensley quaffable.
    Crisp, dry and refreshing
    Le Vele Verdicchio Castelli d'Jesi (Italy) 18.50
    Clean, fresh and Italianate - like standing under a waterfall on a hot day.
    Marcheseni Pinot Grigio (Italy) 3.20 18.75
    A crisp clean apple fresh wine which makes for easy drinking.
    Domaine de la Jousselimiere Muscadet Sur Lie (France) 3.80 21.95
    Forget dusty old hotels from the eighties - this long lost wine is enjoying a renaissance thanks to its crisp and dry flavours and subtle palate.
    Peter Lehman 'My word is my bond' Riesling 3.50 20.95
    As clean and crisp as an early morning frost across the Barossa valley. Green tints with adelicate floral aromas and a elegant finish.
    Le Coste Soave Classico 21.95
    A blast from the past, but one that needs to be rediscovered. Fresh and zesty with crisp hints of lime.
    Le Sauvage de la Brie Sauvignon Blanc 3.65 21.50
    Aclassic little number from a classic region, this Loire Sauvignon has great minerality and depth and superb acidic finish.
    Clean but rounded
    Kleine Zalze Chenin Blanc (South Africa) 3.00 16.95
    Bags of yellow tropical fruits leap out like gazelles from the bush. One step up from dry, but it never cloys.
    Domaine de Roquemoliere Picpoul de Pinet (France) 3.20 19.50
    Light and crisp with a hint of minerality. Very vogue be there at the beginning for a future classic.
    Chateau Gouilaine Pouilly Fumé (France) 29.95
    From the opposite bank of the Loire to Sancerre comes Pouilly Fumé. This has a gunflinty, smoky character yet is big on fruity, nettle-like flavours. This is a classic example of a classic.
    De Gras Chardonnay (Chile) 3.15 17.50
    This is juicy and succulent with hints of tropical fruit flavours, but it nevertheless remains clean in the mouth.
    Riverstone Estate Sauvignon Blanc (New Zealand) 3.55 20.95
    Ripe, lemony and zesty with an exquisite mouth-watering bouquet. Obviously, being superhuman at rugby isn't enough for the Kiwis.
    Guy Saget Sancerre (France) 34.95
    Proper grown up Sauvignon blanc from the Loire with a trait of refined elegance it is enough to make any grown up go weak at the knees.
    Rich and full
    Pouilly Fuisse La Roche, Vielles Vignes, Collovray et Terrier (France)  39.95
    A stunning white Burgundy, with delicious rich, buttery Chardonnay flavours enhanced by being matured in new oak. Classic stuff.
    Gavi di Gavi Cristina Ascheri Piedmont (Italy) 27.95
    Whilst being at the more expensive end of the scale,this really is an exceptional wine, arguably our favourite wine on the list, with intrigueing fruit flavours from Cortese.
    Stadlman Gruner Veltliner 3.70 21.50
    Bit of a secret star, this has a sherbet like quality and will tickle the taste buds.The acidity will work overtime and square up particulary well to fish and chips. Ripe orchard fruits with a vdry palate and hints of white pepper.
    Tintara Horseshoe Row Chardonnay (Australiamate) 3.30 18.95
    Subtle notes of lemon, naturalfruit and a gentle tingle of oak smacks of classic Chardonnay.
    Le Tardieu Chablis (France) 29.95
    An elegant and refined wine from Burgundy that is everything you want it to be.
    San Marco premium Frascati 22.50
    Full and elegant with a delicious hint of fresh fruit.
    A 20 Albarino (Spain) 24.95
    A waft distinct salty minerality reminiscent of seaside ozone. The palate shimmers with tang and vibrancy peach and lemon flavours backed up by a mineral acidity, delicous stuff.
    Macon L'Aurore - (France) 21.95
    Some less expensive white Burgundy can get a bit ponderous, but not this little number with its figure-hugging cloak of oak.
    Fruity and aromatic
    Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc (New Zealand) 39.95
    The best of the best - this is the icon of New Zealand Sauvignons and sets the standards by which all others are judged, and justly so.
    Tokay Pinot Gris, Gustav Lorentz (France) 25.95
    A serious wine: intense and concentrated with typical Alsace-style richness and texture in the mouth.
    Didier Champalou Vouvray (France) 21.95
    Harvested by hand and matured in their own caves, this wine has a great maturity and balance of fruit, with overtones of peaches and cream.
    Cuatro Rayas Verdejo (Spain) 3.50 19.95
    Arguably Spain's finest grape variety, this wine is soft and creamy with nutty and honey notes.
    Casa de la ermita Dulce Viogner 3.45 20.50
    A great example of this succulent grape variety that thrives under the mediterranean sun. Apricots on buttered toast with a touch of almond. Sounds odd but its delicious.
    Planeta La Segreta (Italy) 3.30 21.95
    Reminiscent of a pina colada - but in a good way. Pineapple grilled over a charcoal flame with hints of coconut. A delicious drop that loves to party.
    Charles Smith Kung Fu Girl Riesling (USA) 28.95
    This 'kick ass' wine is actually a serious riesling with full bodied finesse from a single vieyard in Washington state.Sharp in the way a good cheddar can be but with pretty floral notes. Make a date and pick her up.
    Sparkling
    Villa Domiziano Prosecco (Italy) 3.20 19.95
    A most attractive nose with hints of sherbet, this is reminiscent of salty sea breezes: a crisp zingermonger.
    G.H. Mumm Champagne (France) 35.00
    A very pleasant biscuity nose leads into a juicy, friendly champagne that is very approachable and easy to drink.
    Veuve Cliquot Brut Champagne (France) 47.95
    If wine were shoes, this would be a dancing slipper. This is a Grande Marque Champagne with a toasty, yeasty finish, and it deserves its nomenclator.
    Ruggeri Special Reserve Brut Cuvee 5.00 29.95
    Great complexity and a rich fruty flavour with a blush of Rose. A hit with both the boys and girls in the crew (we are a macho bunch here). Great with light foods or on its own.
    Dessert wines
    Chateau La Fleur Des Pins (France) - half bottle 20.95
    Handsome flavours of oranges, marmalade and quince.
    Sauternes Chateau Haut-Mayne (France) - half bottle 20.95
    An elixir of honeyed sweetness lifted with a gentle lick of lemon.

    Moncaro Marche Sangiovese 2.80 14.95
    Beautifully clean, red cherry fruit makes this very moreish indeed.
    Light and fruity
    Escale Pinot Noir (France) 3.60 20.75
    A brilliant little wine. Fine Burgundy it's not, but it's really carefully made and displays excellent fruit with ripe cherries and touches of vanilla tobacco. Pinot lovers everywhere, come and have a go.
    Chateau Montoullieres Minnervois (France) 3.50 19.50
    Easy going, light and fruity, this doesn't need food but is nevertheless excellent with anything that involves tomato sauces - including chips.
    Pierre Lamotte Nuits sans Georges (France) 39.95
    A wine form the top drawer this has a wonderful pinot nose and good balanced fruit with a vanilla kick. Drinking superbly right now.
    Man Vintners Pinotage (South Africa) 3.10 19.95
    A modern style wine for a digital age its especially good slightly chilled (ask for a cellar bottle if you're that way inclined). Cranberrry and toasted marshmallow flavours with soft tanins.
    Mommessin Domaine de la Presle Fleurie (France) 29.95
    This is velvety beaujoulais with floral fruit, vanilla and butterscotch with good grip. A delicate wine.
    Rosso di Montalcino Banfi (Italy 2009) 29.95
    Smooth and decadent, quintessential sangiovese varietal. This was an amazing year for this supple wine. Salut !.
    Smooth and earthy
    Chateau Lamothe Bergeron, Haut Medoc (France) 38.95
    This is right on the money for a decent left bank Bordeaux: an excellent vegetal nose leads into a velvet smooth, long, balanced, meaty but elegant claret which is just as it should be.
    Royal St. Emilion (France) 28.95
    St Emilion proudly flies the Merlot flag, stifferend with a breeze of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, and this is absolutely on the button. See if you can find the Stilton on the nose.
    Mont Gras La Paz Merlot (Chile) 3.10 18.25
    A really well rounded drop with ripe red fruits and spicy vanilla.
    Xanadu Exmoor Drive Cabernet Sauvignon (Australia) 22.95
    A classy example from this small premium producer in Margaret river. Beautifully balanced with lovely blackcurrant and mint and velvety tannins lead to a smooth finish.
    Piropo Malbec/Shiraz (Argentina) 3.30 18.95
    Famous for being a natural partner to red meat this is a good quaffer for someone looking for something off the beaten track. Malbec tanins slightly softened by the shiraz.
    Solarena Barrel-Aged Tempranillo (Spain) 3.35 18.25
    Like a baby Rioja. This is a spicey ripe authentic example of the famous Spanish grape. Great by the glass, better by the bottle.
    Warm and spicy
    Quinta Crasto Douro (Portugal) 18.95
    Oh boy, if you haven't tried Portuguese red before, you're in for a treat. This is full, spicy and vibrant: you can taste the sun in the texture.
    Chianti Classico, Ruffina (Italy) 20.95
    Hints of cherry, spice and a slightly addictive balsamic note. A body that nevertheless finishes with a real freshness. Great on a summer's day, so get that handkerchief knotted and catch some rays.
    Berri Estates Merlot (Australia) 3.15 17.50
    Intense fruit and gentle tannins give this New Worlder a smooth velvet finish.
    Marques de Riscal Rioja Reserva (Spain) 28.95
    A masterful wine drawing its flavours from the earth and centuries of experience. This is very typical of old skool Reserva, with velvet fruit, balanced soft tannins and a lick of vanilla.
    Chateau Nico Bordeaux rouge (France) 3.60 21.50
    Supple on the palate with good structure and substance lifted by gorgeous red fruit and a spicy kick.
    Chilcas Cabernet Franc (Chile) 26.95
    A single vineyard wine from the Maule valley, San Rafael. Deep purple with ruby red glints hint at the rich red fruit that is to follow. We were bowled over.
    Apaltagua granVerano carmenere (Chile) 3.40 18.95
    Robust and fruity, the best of both worlds.Strong enough for a steak, soft enough for a sup up the bar. Huge nose and fantastic depth.
    Rich and plummy
    Peter Lehmann Art series Shiraz (Australia) 3.40 18.95
    From the hot vine heartland of Barossa, this is typically creamy with dense fruit, warm spiciness, and a pinch of sage, all lovingly wrapped up in a oak parcel. If I had but £18.25 left in the world, this is what I would do with it.
    Chateau Musar (Lebanon) 33.95
    Legendary wine with a legion of fans worldwide (fully paid up member reporting). Dense with ripe pepper and tobacco tones soaked in blackberry and raspberry fruit.
    Ripassa Valpolicella, Zenato (Italy) 29.95
    A rich, dark baked Christmas cake of a wine with a nose of sun-dried raisins. Similar to Barolo in character - just not as brutal.
    Boheme Primitivo (Italy) 2.80 15.95
    From the 'heel of Italy' this full bodied quaffer has a sweet berry character and silky smooth balance. Great on its own it really ramps it up when paired with food, in particular red meat and cheese.
    Chateau Famaey Malbec (Argentina) 19.95
    A muscular, meaty red that's made for steaks. Deep rich violet colour with aromas of plums, black cherries and chocolate, and big blackberry and blackcurrant fruit on the palate.
    Camillo eE Lellis Bifferno Rosso Riserva doc (Ital 3.40 19.50
    Amouthful to pronounce and a mouthful to savour, richly textured and full bodied with firm tannins. Rich chocolate and hints of blackberry jam.
    Rosé
    Wandering Bear Zinfandel Rosé (USA) 2.90 16.50
    Strawberries and cream in a glass.
    Domaine de Pellehaut Rosé (France) 3.50 19.95
    Fresh raspberry meets a bunch of flowers meets strawberries equals a great wine.
    Ardesia Pinot Grigio blush 3.30 18.95
    Classic outdoorsy stuff perfect on a sunny summer day. Raspberry overtones and very agreeable.
